Backup TS3 Identity & GUID

How to backup and export your TeamSpeak 3 identity and Unique ID (GUID): Keep your server permissions safe across PC reinstalls.

What do you need to backup your identity?

Your identity contains cryptographic keys that determine your Unique ID (UID, often called GUID).

TeamSpeak 3 Client
Installed client with an active user profile
Secure Storage
USB flash drive, password manager, or secure cloud
Destination Folder
Location to save the exported identity file

How to export and restore your TS3 identity?

Open Identities Manager in Client

Launch TeamSpeak 3. In the top navigation bar, click 'Tools' and select 'Identities' (or press Ctrl + I on your keyboard).

View Your Unique ID (GUID)

Select the identity used for the server you want to access. The 'Unique ID' field displays its UID. Copying this ID alone cannot restore the identity; you need the complete identity export.

Export the Identity Profile

Right-click your profile and select 'Export' (or click the Export button). Acknowledge TeamSpeak's security warning.

Save Export File Securely

Choose a protected folder on your backup medium. Anyone possessing this file can claim your administrative server rights.

Import on New Computer

Import your backup file in the Identities window. Select that identity in the server bookmark's advanced settings or connection dialog, then reconnect and check your permissions. Changing the default identity does not automatically update existing bookmarks.
